BELARUSIAN GOVERNMENT VOWS TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES IN 2004

The Belarusian government has adopted a program of state support for small enterprises in 2004, BelaPAN reported on 19 July. The program is reportedly aimed at improving "the reputation of private enterprises" and creating favorable conditions for the development of the private sector. In particular, the program provides for introducing changes into the law governing state support of enterprises and creating systems for the compensation of businesses for their expenses on interest payments, leasing charges, and payments for participation in exhibitions and fairs.
